JATIMTIMES - Timnas Inggris menutup perjalanan di Piala Dunia 2026 dengan manis setelah mengamankan peringkat ketiga. The Three Lions mengalahkan Prancis dengan skor dramatis 6-4 dalam laga perebutan tempat ketiga yang berlangsung di Miami Stadium, Minggu (19/7/2026) dini hari WIB.

Keberhasilan tersebut menjadi pencapaian bersejarah bagi Inggris. Meski gagal melaju ke final usai dikalahkan Argentina di semifinal, pasukan Thomas Tuchel mampu bangkit dan menutup turnamen dengan kemenangan meyakinkan atas Prancis.

Selain membawa pulang medali perunggu, Inggris juga berhak atas hadiah US$40 juta atau sekitar Rp720 miliar (kurs Rp18.000 per dolar AS) dari FIFA sebagai tim peringkat ketiga. Nominal itu menjadi bagian dari total hadiah Piala Dunia 2026 yang mencapai US$871 juta, terbesar dalam sejarah penyelenggaraan turnamen tersebut.

Prestasi ini juga menjadi hasil terbaik Inggris sejak menjuarai Piala Dunia pada 1966. Untuk pertama kalinya, The Three Lions sukses mengakhiri turnamen di posisi ketiga setelah sebelumnya beberapa kali terhenti di semifinal tanpa mampu memenangkan laga perebutan tempat ketiga.

Kemenangan Inggris tidak lepas dari penampilan gemilang Bukayo Saka. Winger Arsenal itu menjadi bintang lapangan dengan mencetak hat-trick. Tiga gol lainnya disumbangkan Declan Rice, Ezri Konsa, dan Jude Bellingham. Sementara Prancis membalas melalui dua gol Kylian Mbappe serta masing-masing satu gol dari Bradley Barcola dan Ousmane Dembele.

Inggris langsung tampil agresif sejak menit-menit awal. Declan Rice membuka keunggulan saat pertandingan baru berjalan dua menit. Ezri Konsa kemudian menggandakan keunggulan sebelum Bukayo Saka mencetak dua gol yang membuat Inggris menutup babak pertama dengan skor telak 4-0.

Memasuki babak kedua, Prancis bangkit lewat gol Mbappe, Barcola, dan kembali Mbappe sehingga memperkecil ketertinggalan menjadi 4-3. Namun, Saka kembali mencatatkan namanya di papan skor melalui eksekusi penalti yang sekaligus melengkapi hat-trick.

Ousmane Dembele sempat membuat laga kembali menegangkan setelah mencetak gol pada masa injury time. Namun Jude Bellingham memastikan kemenangan Inggris lewat gol keenam yang mengunci skor menjadi 6-4 hingga peluit panjang berbunyi.

Hat-trick yang dicetak Bukayo Saka juga menjadi salah satu penampilan individu paling menonjol pada Piala Dunia 2026. Penyerang Arsenal itu tampil konsisten sepanjang turnamen dan menjadi sosok penting dalam keberhasilan Inggris menutup kompetisi dengan medali perunggu.

Dengan hasil ini, Inggris mengakhiri Piala Dunia 2026 di posisi ketiga, sedangkan Prancis harus puas finis di peringkat keempat.
