JATIMTIMES - Pemerintah Kota (Pemkot) Surabaya melalui Badan Riset dan Inovasi Daerah (Brida) menghadirkan inovasi baru berbasis teknologi untuk mengajak generasi muda lebih aktif bergerak sekaligus mencintai lingkungan. Inovasi tersebut berupa game online berbasis web bernama mangrovethrone.com yang disiapkan secara khusus untuk dimainkan di kawasan Kebun Raya Mangrove (KRM) Surabaya.
Inovasi interaktif ini dijadwalkan akan diluncurkan secara resmi oleh Wali Kota Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, pada Sabtu (25/7/2026), bertepatan dengan Hari Ulang Tahun (HUT) KRM yang ke-3.

Kepala Brida Kota Surabaya, Agus Imam Sonhaji, menjelaskan bahwa pengembangan game ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena anak-anak sekolah usia SD, SMP, hingga SMA yang gemar bermain game, tetapi cenderung pasif dan menghabiskan waktu berjam-jam di dalam kamar. Untuk mengatasi pola hidup yang kurang sehat tersebut, Brida merancang game bermodel geolocation dan daily care.
“Anak-anak kita suka main game, tapi biasanya duduk di kamar berjam-jam. Itu kan tidak sehat. Dengan permainan ini, anak-anak didorong harus bermain di luar rumah dalam hal ini KRM yang udaranya segar dan bagus, sehingga anak-anak jadi lebih sehat," ujar Agus Imam Sonhaji.
Agus membeberkan, alur cerita game ini mengangkat narasi tiga kerajaan hewan di kawasan Mangrove yang mewakili figur lokal, yakni Rajoboyo (Kerajaan Tahta Sungai), Ratu Sura (Kerajaan Laut), dan Pangeran Kera (Kerajaan Mangrove).
Dalam permainan, ketiga kerajaan yang awalnya kurang rukun ini didorong untuk berkolaborasi melawan monster-monster yang merupakan perwujudan masalah nyata di dunia nyata, seperti sampah plastik, sampah medis, hingga polusi udara.
Selain bertarung melawan sampah, unsur daily care mewajibkan pemain untuk merawat karakter hewannya agar tetap kenyang, sehat, dan bahagia.
“Pemain juga bisa meningkatkan poin kepintaran hewannya dengan menjawab kuis atau soal-soal sederhana yang ada di game. Untuk materi kuis ini, kami akan berkolaborasi dengan Dinas Pendidikan (Dispendik) agar materi pelajaran sekolah bisa diserap dengan menyenangkan," tambahnya.
Sementara itu, pengembang game mangrovethrone.com , David Hermansyah mengatakan bahwa format game berupa web apps sengaja dipilih untuk menjamin inklusivitas agar dapat diakses oleh beragam jenis gadget tanpa terkendala spesifikasi perangkat.
"Kenapa kita tidak bikin aplikasi Android atau iOS, karena kalau gadget-nya berbeda atau jadul, itu susah. Makanya kita bikin web apps supaya cukup menuju ke websitenya, mereka sudah bisa langsung main," jelas David.
David menerangkan bahwa mekanisme permainan mengadopsi konsep populer ala Pokemon Go dan Tamagotchi, yaitu mengumpulkan karakter dan migrasi, dalam hal ini pemain dapat mengumpulkan hewan di titik-titik lokasi KRM. Bahkan, game ini menghadirkan karakter hewan langka atau season, seperti kawanan burung migrasi asal Australia yang muncul tiap enam bulan sekali.

Selain itu, karakter hewan yang sudah ditemukan juga harus dirawat di lokasi KRM untuk menjaga indikator kebahagiaan dan kehitungannya. Pemain dapat melakukan tukar-menukar kartu karakter, membagikan pencapaian ke media sosial hingga melakukan pertarungan antar-hewan dalam jarak dekat sekitar 100 meter secara nyata di lokasi.
“Ke depannya, karakter-karakter unik dalam game ini berpotensi dikembangkan menjadi merchandise fisik seperti kaos, topi, hingga kartu koleksi melalui kerja sama dengan UMKM lokal,” imbuhnya.
Proses pengembangan game ini memakan waktu sekitar tiga bulan dan direncanakan terus menambah variasi karakter serta fitur reward (papan peringkat/leaderboard) bagi para pemain berprestasi.
David menambahkan bahwa model permainan interaktif berbasis lokasi ini sangat potensial untuk direplikasi di kawasan edukasi dan wisata Pemkot Surabaya lainnya.
“Fitur ini tidak hanya terbatas di Mangrove. Ke depannya bisa juga diterapkan di Kebun Binatang Surabaya (KBS) atau kawasan Kota Tua untuk menarik kerumunan dan menghidupkan suasana di titik-titik yang membutuhkan edukasi," terang David.
Keseruan bermain mangrovethrone.com dirasakan langsung oleh siswa SMPN 48 Surabaya, Iqbal Surya Pratama. Menurutnya, permainan ini cukup seru dan membuatnya harus berkeliling KRM untuk mendapatkan hewan yang diinginkan.
“Seru permainannya, bisa keliling juga dapat hewan yang macam-macam. Nanti, mau kesini lagi dan coba main supaya dapat Cobra. Karena, saya baru tau kalau di lingkungan mangrove ada Cobranya,” tandasnya.
