JATIMTIMES – Dalam upaya memperkuat ekosistem olahraga bela diri serta mendongkrak kualitas atlet di Jawa Timur, Pengurus Provinsi Taekwondo Indonesia (Pengprov TI) Jatim  menjalin kemitraan internasional dengan Departemen Atletik Universitas Gwangju, Korea Selatan. 

Kerja sama strategis ini diresmikan melalui penandatanganan Nota Kesepahaman (MoU) yang juga melibatkan Kantor Hukum Taegwang sebagai mitra pendukung di Korea.

Langkah ini menjadi tonggak penting bagi Pengprov TI Jatim dalam mengadopsi pendekatan pendidikan dan pelatihan holistik berstandar internasional. 

Pertemuan yang terjadi akhir pekan baru ini tersebut dihadiri langsung oleh Ketua Umum Pengprov TI Jatim, Mayjen TNI (P) Yusman Madayun beserta jajaran pengurus inti.  

Sementara itu, pihak Universitas Gwangju diwakili oleh President of Gwangju University, Doctor of Education Dongjin Kim, serta Wakil Presiden 4 Departemen Sport Science, Prof. Kim Jihyuk, Ph.D. 

Kemitraan yang disepakati untuk jangka waktu dua tahun ini difokuskan pada pengembangan ekosistem taekwondo yang komprehensif, mencakup aspek akademik, teknis, hingga profesionalisme karier atlet. 

Dampak positif dari kolaborasi ini langsung dirasakan oleh para atlet Jawa Timur. Sebagai langkah awal, Universitas Gwangju mengundang dua pelatih dan empat atlet unggulan Jatim untuk mengikuti training camp intensif di Korea Selatan. 

Program yang berlangsung pada 13–25 Juli 2026 ini dirancang sebagai persiapan krusial menghadapi ajang bergengsi 8th Asian Taekwondo Indonesia Open Championship G2 yang akan digelar di Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta, pada 1–5 Agustus 2026 mendatang. 

Dalam MoU tersebut disepakati beberapa pilar pengembangan utama, yakni Pengembangan Akademik dan Riset, yang mana akan dilakukan kolaborasi dalam penelitian olahraga, serta penyelenggaraan forum akademik seperti seminar, lokakarya, dan simposium. 

Kemudian, yang tak kalah penting Kantor Hukum Taegwang akan berperan memberikan konsultasi hukum, memfasilitasi pertukaran personel, serta mendampingi upaya pencarian pendanaan proyek, baik dari pemerintah maupun organisasi internasional.

Ketua Umum Pengprov TI Jatim, Mayjen TNI (P) Yusman Madayun, menegaskan bahwa sinergi ini merupakan langkah konkret untuk membawa taekwondo Jawa Timur ke level dunia. 

"Kerja sama ini adalah upaya konkret kami untuk membangun ekosistem prestasi yang berstandar internasional. Dengan kolaborasi riset, pelatihan, dan dukungan fasilitas dari Universitas Gwangju, kami optimistis atlet Jawa Timur dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan daya saingnya di level dunia," tegas Yusman dalam keterangan tertulisnya, Senin (20/7/2026). 

Melalui sinergi ini, Pengprov TI Jatim berharap dapat menciptakan atlet-atlet yang tidak hanya tangguh secara fisik, tetapi juga memiliki wawasan akademik serta profesionalisme yang mumpuni untuk karier masa depan mereka. 

Selanjutnya, akan dilakukan pertukaran Pengetahuan dan Infrastruktur dengan komitmen berbagi akses informasi, data riset, dan teknologi pendukung performa atlet. 

Peningkatan Kompetensi dengan menggulirkan program pelatihan bersama untuk meningkatkan kapasitas profesional anggota fakultas dan pelatih. Koneksi Industri, yang terintegrasi dengan program yang memfasilitasi jalur karier bagi lulusan maupun atlet taekwondo di dunia kerja.
