JATIMTIMES - Program angkutan pelajar gratis di Kota Malang kembali dijanjikan mulai beroperasi pada Juli 2026, bertepatan dengan dimulainya tahun ajaran baru. Target tersebut menjadi upaya terbaru Pemerintah Kota Malang setelah peluncuran layanan yang sebelumnya telah beberapa kali diwacanakan namun belum terealisasi.
Dinas Perhubungan (Dishub) Kota Malang memastikan seluruh persiapan memasuki tahap akhir. Regulasi yang menjadi dasar pelaksanaan program disebut telah rampung dan tinggal menunggu proses pengundangan sebelum layanan resmi diluncurkan.

Kepala Dishub Kota Malang, Widjaja Saleh Putra, mengatakan pihaknya menargetkan layanan angkutan pelajar mulai beroperasi pada bulan ini. Menurutnya, peluncuran diupayakan bersamaan dengan dimulainya aktivitas belajar mengajar.
"Mudah-mudahan kita upayakan mulai di tahun ajaran baru. Karena kita targetnya memang bulan Juli ini sudah launching," ujar Jaya, Sabtu (11/7/2026).
Untuk mendukung operasional tersebut, Dishub mengklaim telah menyiapkan sekitar 80 armada yang akan melayani 15 rute angkutan pelajar di berbagai wilayah Kota Malang.
Selain memanfaatkan jalur yang telah ada, Dishub juga menambah tiga hingga empat rute baru menuju sekolah-sekolah yang selama ini belum terjangkau layanan angkutan umum. Penambahan itu disebut sebagai hasil evaluasi terhadap kebutuhan transportasi pelajar.
"Ada penambahan sekitar tiga atau empat rute menuju sekolah-sekolah SMP yang sebelumnya belum memiliki jalur angkutan," kata Jaya.
Menurut dia, konsep layanan yang diterapkan merupakan kombinasi antara trayek bus sekolah yang sudah berjalan dengan jaringan angkutan kota yang telah beroperasi. Skema tersebut sekaligus dilengkapi penambahan jalur menuju sekolah yang belum memiliki akses angkutan umum.
"Yang kita lakukan adalah mengombinasikan jalur bus sekolah, memanfaatkan jalur angkutan kota yang sudah ada, lalu menambah jalur ke sekolah yang belum memiliki layanan angkutan," ujarnya.

Armada angkutan pelajar nantinya akan beroperasi mengikuti jam sekolah. Kendaraan mulai bersiaga sejak pukul 05.00 WIB di titik-titik pemberangkatan yang telah ditentukan dan melayani siswa hingga jam pulang sekolah. Di luar jam layanan sekolah maupun saat libur, kendaraan akan kembali beroperasi sebagai angkutan kota reguler.
Untuk memudahkan masyarakat mengenali layanan tersebut, setiap armada akan dipasangi penanda khusus sebagai angkutan pelajar. Titik naik dan turun penumpang dipusatkan di depan sekolah maupun lokasi pemberhentian yang telah ditetapkan.
Dishub juga telah memetakan 15 koridor layanan yang menjangkau kawasan barat, timur, utara, hingga selatan Kota Malang. Beberapa rute baru diarahkan menuju SMP Negeri yang sebelumnya belum terlayani angkutan umum, sementara koridor lainnya menghubungkan permukiman padat dengan pusat-pusat pendidikan.
Melalui penambahan rute dan armada tersebut, Dishub berharap layanan angkutan pelajar dapat mulai dimanfaatkan siswa pada awal tahun ajaran baru. Meski demikian, realisasi operasional program masih menunggu pengundangan Peraturan Wali Kota sebagai dasar pelaksanaan sebelum resmi diluncurkan.
