JATIMTIMES – Upaya pelestarian kawasan hulu Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Brantas terus diperkuat oleh berbagai elemen masyarakat di Kota Batu. Terbaru, Lembaga Masyarakat Adat dan kelompok tani hutan bersama Yayasan Nawadya Cita Nusantara melakukan aksi penanaman pohon endemik di tiga titik sumber mata air strategis, Minggu (19/4/2026).

Aksi penghijauan ini menyasar Sumber Belik Sumo di Desa Bulukerto, serta Sumber Dampul dan Sumber Kali Ledok Ombok di Desa Tulungrejo. Sekitar 100 bibit pohon aneka jenis ditanam sebagai upaya menjaga ketersediaan air tanah di masa depan.

Ketua Yayasan Nawadya, Syahrul Hadiyatullah menjelaskan bahwa sumber air di wilayah ini memiliki fungsi yang sangat vital bagi peradaban masyarakat sekitar. Selain kebutuhan konsumsi, lokasi tersebut merupakan tempat berlangsungnya ritus adat.

"Sumber air ini menghidupi warga sekitar. Sekaligus menjadi tempat ritus dan dimanfaatkan untuk upacara adat dan agama," ujar Syahrul.

Ia menegaskan, pohon memiliki peran sentral sebagai penyerap air ke dalam tanah. Tanpa vegetasi yang kuat, sumber mata air di Kota Batu terancam surut, yang mana dampaknya akan dirasakan hingga ke wilayah Kota Malang.

"Nawadya berkomitmen mengembalikan kawasan tangkapan air dengan menanam. Agar sumber mata air di Kota Batu tetap terjaga dan lestari," tambahnya.

Dalam aksi ini, pihak yayasan mengutamakan penanaman pohon endemik yang mulai langka, seperti pohon Dampul (Ficus lepicarpa). Pohon ini merupakan bagian dari toponimi atau asal-usul nama wilayah Sumber Dampul.

Pohon Dampul dikenal tangguh untuk reklamasi lahan kering dan efektif mencegah erosi. Selain itu, genus Ficus merupakan spesies kunci yang menjadi habitat penting bagi beragam satwa liar seperti burung hutan.

Kondisi Sumber Dampul sendiri sempat memprihatinkan pada awal tahun 2000-an. Menurut Ketua RW 16 Tulungrejo, Suwito, saat itu banyak pohon besar yang tumbang dan mati sehingga debit air mengecil drastis.

"Sumber nyaris mati," kenang Suwito. Kondisi tersebut memicu warga untuk bergerak melakukan pembersihan kawasan dan menanam kembali beragam pohon buah guna menghidupkan kembali mata air.

Kini, kawasan tersebut tidak hanya menjadi area konservasi, tetapi juga ruang spiritual bagi umat Hindu. Sebuah Pelinggih atau tempat pemujaan dibangun warga di dekat sumber untuk keperluan ritual suci.

"Umat Hindu mengambil air dibuat ritual seperti saat melasti, dan penyucian pertima atau sarana pemujaan," jelas Suwito mengenai fungsi sosial sumber air tersebut.

Pihaknya berharap, aksi kolaborasi ini mampu menjaga ekosistem hulu Brantas agar tetap stabil. Dengan kembalinya vegetasi endemik, diharapkan sumber-sumber air purba di Kota Batu terus mengalirkan kehidupan bagi generasi mendatang.
