JATIMTIMES - Komitmen mendorong penguasaan bahasa asing sejak dini terus ditunjukkan Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) 1 Kota Malang. Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris bahkan telah diberikan kepada siswa sejak duduk di kelas 1 sebagai bekal menghadapi tantangan global.

Kepala MIN 1 Kota Malang, Hj. Siti Aisah, S.Ag., M.Pd, menegaskan bahwa penguatan bahasa asing menjadi salah satu perhatian penting di madrasah yang dipimpinnya. Menurutnya, kemampuan berbahasa asing kini bukan lagi sekadar pelengkap, tetapi menjadi kebutuhan di era globalisasi. “Untuk bahasa Inggris itu, kami sudah melaksanakan sejak kelas 1. Jadi selama di MIN, enam tahun mereka belajar bahasa Inggris,” ujar Hj. Siti Aisah.

Meski demikian, ia mengakui bahwa pembelajaran selama ini masih lebih kuat di aspek tulis-menulis. Sementara kemampuan berbicara atau percakapan masih perlu terus ditingkatkan agar siswa lebih percaya diri saat menggunakan bahasa Inggris dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. “Anak-anak untuk tulis-menulis bisa, tapi ketika diajak conversation masih banyak yang kurang,” jelasnya, Senin, (13/4/2026).

Berangkat dari evaluasi tersebut, MIN 1 Kota Malang kini semakin mempertegas komitmennya untuk memperkuat penguasaan bahasa asing secara menyeluruh. Tidak hanya fokus pada materi di kelas, tetapi juga mendorong pembiasaan penggunaan bahasa dalam keseharian di lingkungan madrasah.

Menurut Hj. Siti Aisah, seluruh warga madrasah didorong untuk ikut terlibat dalam proses ini. Baik guru, siswa, maupun tenaga pendukung seperti petugas kantin, tenaga kebersihan, hingga satpam, semuanya diajak untuk belajar bersama. “Baik yang sudah bisa maupun belum bisa, semuanya harus belajar. Ini bagian dari upaya membangun kebiasaan,” ungkapnya.

Pendekatan tersebut diharapkan mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih hidup dan tidak kaku. Dengan keterlibatan semua pihak, siswa tidak merasa sendiri dalam proses belajar bahasa asing, sehingga rasa percaya diri mereka dapat tumbuh secara alami.

Ia menambahkan, proses pembiasaan ini juga menjadi langkah awal menuju pengembangan program yang lebih luas di masa depan. Dalam satu hingga dua tahun ke depan, penguatan bahasa Inggris akan terus dimatangkan sebelum dikembangkan ke tahap berikutnya. “Ini memang tahap awal. Kita perkuat dulu fondasinya agar anak-anak tidak takut dan tidak malu untuk mencoba,” katanya.

Selain bahasa Inggris, MIN 1 Kota Malang juga mulai mengenalkan bahasa Arab kepada siswa. Namun, pengembangannya dilakukan secara bertahap agar siswa dapat menyerap materi dengan optimal. “Bahasa Arab sudah mulai, tapi fokusnya bertahap. Nanti akan dikolaborasikan,” pungkasnya.

Dengan langkah ini, MIN 1 Kota Malang ingin memastikan para siswanya memiliki kemampuan dasar bahasa asing yang kuat sejak dini, sekaligus membangun kesiapan mereka menghadapi dunia yang semakin terbuka dan kompetitif.
