Secara umum, 'velocity' berasal dari bahasa Inggris yang berarti kecepatan suatu objek dalam bergerak. Namun, di TikTok, istilah ini memiliki makna yang sedikit berbeda. Velocity merujuk pada teknik pengeditan video yang mengatur kecepatan klip tertentu agar terlihat lebih dinamis dan menarik. 

Efek velocity kerap digunakan dalam video dance atau konten kreatif lainnya. Teknik ini memungkinkan pengguna memperlambat atau mempercepat bagian tertentu dalam video, menciptakan transisi yang lebih dramatis dan estetis.
