Salah satu perbedaan paling mendasar ada pada proses skin preparation. Jika untuk aktivitas sehari-hari penggunaan sunscreen menjadi langkah yang tidak boleh dilewatkan, pada makeup pengantin atau acara formal, sebagian MUA justru memilih untuk tidak menggunakannya.
“Mostly MUA memang tidak memakai sunscreen karena sunscreen cukup tricky kalau dipadukan dengan complexion yang harus benar-benar kokoh. Beberapa kandungannya bisa menyebabkan efek flashback saat terkena lampu atau kamera. Tapi ini bukan berarti semua sunscreen tidak bisa dipakai ya,” jelas Dinzzur, sapaan akran Dindada Azzura.
Ia menegaskan, pernyataan tersebut tidak boleh disalahartikan sebagai alasan untuk melewatkan sunscreen dalam rutinitas harian. Menurutnya, penggunaan sunscreen tetap penting untuk melindungi kulit dari paparan sinar ultraviolet.
“Sunscreen tetap dipakai untuk daily makeup karena memang kita tidak membutuhkan makeup yang sekokoh makeup pengantin atau acara besar. Sekarang juga sudah banyak sunscreen yang formulanya lebih ramah untuk dipadukan dengan makeup,” imbuhnya.
Selain tahap skin prep, perbedaan lain terletak pada teknik penguncian complexion. Berbeda dengan makeup harian yang biasanya cukup menggunakan bedak secukupnya, MUA cenderung membangun lapisan makeup secara bertahap agar lebih tahan terhadap panas, keringat, hingga pemotretan dalam waktu lama.
Ia menambahkan, setelah foundation diaplikasikan, MUA umumnya menggunakan loose powder untuk mengunci base makeup sebelum menyempurnakannya dengan compact powder.
“Kalau makeup MUA, complexion harus benar-benar kering dulu supaya hasilnya lebih kokoh. Setelah itu baru compact powder dipakai untuk membuat tampilannya lebih halus atau smoothing,” terang Dinzzur.

Tak hanya soal ketahanan, proses makeup profesional juga menuntut tingkat ketelitian yang lebih tinggi. Menurutnya, seorang MUA tidak sekadar merias wajah, tetapi juga melakukan koreksi pada bentuk wajah, warna kulit, hingga detail-detail kecil yang mungkin luput pada makeup harian.
“Kalau daily makeup biasanya dekoratifnya lebih sederhana. Sementara MUA akan lebih detail mengoreksi bagian-bagian wajah supaya hasil akhirnya terlihat lebih sempurna,” ucap ibu dua anak ini.
Ekspektasi klien juga menjadi alasan mengapa makeup profesional membutuhkan waktu lebih lama. Seorang MUA tidak hanya menjual hasil riasan, tetapi juga keahlian dan teknik yang dimiliki.
“Yang dibayar itu sebenarnya bukan makeup-nya, tapi skill dan jasa dari MUA. Makanya prosesnya lebih detail dibanding makeup sehari-hari,” tutup Dinzzur.
