JATIMTIMES - Babak penyisihan grup Piala Dunia 2026 semakin mendekati akhir. Sejumlah tim telah memastikan langkah ke fase gugur, sementara beberapa negara harus mengakhiri perjuangannya lebih cepat setelah gagal bersaing di fase grup.

Daftar tim yang tersingkir kembali bertambah usai rampungnya pertandingan terakhir Grup E pada Jumat (26/6) pagi WIB. Curacao menjadi negara terbaru yang dipastikan gagal melaju ke babak 32 besar setelah menelan kekalahan dari Pantai Gading.

Curacao takluk 0-2 dari Pantai Gading pada laga pamungkas Grup E. Hasil tersebut membuat tim asuhan Dick Advocaat finis di posisi juru kunci klasemen dengan raihan satu poin dari tiga pertandingan.

Selama tampil di fase grup, Curacao menelan kekalahan dari Jerman dan Pantai Gading, serta hanya mampu meraih satu hasil imbang tanpa gol saat menghadapi Ekuador.

Di saat yang sama, Ekuador yang finis di peringkat ketiga Grup E berhasil mengamankan tiket ke babak 32 besar. Empat poin yang dikumpulkan cukup untuk membawa mereka masuk dalam daftar delapan tim peringkat ketiga terbaik.

Meski gagal melanjutkan perjalanan di Piala Dunia 2026, Curacao tetap menorehkan catatan bersejarah. Negara asal Karibia tersebut berhasil meraih poin pertama sepanjang keikutsertaannya di putaran final Piala Dunia.

Tak hanya itu, kiper Curacao, Eloy Room, juga mencatatkan prestasi individu setelah membukukan 15 penyelamatan saat membantu timnya menahan imbang Ekuador 0-0. Catatan tersebut menjadi salah satu penampilan terbaik seorang penjaga gawang di turnamen ini.

Dengan hasil tersebut, Curacao bergabung bersama tujuh negara lain yang lebih dahulu dipastikan tersingkir dari Piala Dunia 2026.
