Dalam video tersebut dijelaskan bahwa Madura berada di kawasan geologi aktif yang memiliki peran penting dalam pembentukan minyak dan gas bumi. Penjelasan itu kemudian memicu rasa penasaran banyak warganet tentang bagaimana sebenarnya kondisi geologi Pulau Madura.
Madura Ternyata Berdiri di Jalur Lipatan Purba Secara ilmiah, Madura memang dilintasi Zona Rembang-Madura-Kangean-Sakala (RMKS). Dalam dunia geologi, RMKS dikenal sebagai jalur lipatan dan sesar batuan tua yang membentang dari wilayah utara Jawa Tengah, melewati Pulau Madura, hingga Kepulauan Kangean di Jawa Timur.
Berdasarkan berbagai kajian geologi Indonesia, zona ini termasuk salah satu struktur geologi penting di kawasan utara Jawa Timur karena terbentuk akibat tekanan lempeng tektonik selama jutaan tahun.
Proses tersebut membuat lapisan sedimen di bawah permukaan mengalami lipatan, patahan, hingga pengangkatan batuan.
Di beberapa bagian, terbentuk struktur antiklinorium atau lipatan batuan besar yang menjadi salah satu ciri geologi Madura.
Struktur seperti ini sangat penting dalam dunia perminyakan karena mampu membentuk jebakan hidrokarbon, yakni ruang alami tempat minyak dan gas bumi terakumulasi di bawah tanah.
Karena itu, kawasan sekitar Madura, Selat Madura, hingga Laut Jawa sejak lama dikenal memiliki potensi migas cukup besar dan menjadi area eksplorasi energi nasional. Sejumlah wilayah lepas pantai di sekitar Jawa Timur juga telah lama masuk dalam kawasan eksplorasi minyak dan gas bumi Indonesia.
Jejak Laut Purba di Bawah Tanah Madura Sebagian besar lapisan batuan di Madura tersusun dari batu kapur atau batu gamping. Batuan tersebut berasal dari endapan organisme laut purba seperti karang dan cangkang yang terbentuk jutaan tahun lalu saat wilayah Madura masih berupa laut dangkal.
Seiring pergerakan kerak bumi, endapan itu terangkat ke permukaan dan membentuk kawasan perbukitan kapur yang kini banyak ditemukan di berbagai daerah di Madura.
Karakter batu kapur tersebut juga membentuk sistem karst bawah tanah berupa rongga dan saluran air alami. Kondisi ini membuat sebagian wilayah Madura memiliki sumber air bawah tanah yang unik sekaligus rentan mengalami kekeringan saat musim kemarau panjang.
Selain itu, struktur batu kapur juga menyebabkan sebagian daerah di Madura memiliki tekstur tanah yang berbeda dibanding wilayah vulkanik di Pulau Jawa. Air hujan cenderung lebih cepat meresap ke bawah tanah sehingga permukaan tanah relatif lebih kering.
Bentang alam Madura pun berbeda dibanding sebagian besar wilayah Pulau Jawa yang lebih banyak dipengaruhi aktivitas gunung api dan tanah vulkanik.

Kondisi geologi dan iklim Madura juga memengaruhi kualitas hasil buminya. Tanah berkapur dengan tingkat kekeringan tertentu dianggap cocok untuk menghasilkan tembakau khas Madura yang memiliki aroma kuat.
Sementara wilayah pesisir yang panas dan curah hujannya relatif rendah mendukung produksi garam berkualitas tinggi. Kombinasi antara suhu panas, tingkat penguapan tinggi, dan karakter pesisir membuat Madura sejak lama dikenal sebagai salah satu sentra garam terbesar di Indonesia.
Tak heran jika banyak masyarakat Madura menggantungkan ekonomi pada sektor pertanian lahan kering, tambak garam, hingga hasil pesisir yang dipengaruhi langsung oleh kondisi alam pulau tersebut.
Meski begitu, kualitas garam dan tembakau tidak hanya dipengaruhi struktur geologi. Faktor cuaca, kadar air laut, teknik budidaya, serta proses pengolahan juga memiliki peran besar.
Apakah Jalur Sesar di Madura Berbahaya? Keberadaan jalur sesar tidak otomatis membuat Madura menjadi wilayah dengan ancaman gempa besar seperti kawasan selatan Jawa.
Namun, para peneliti tetap memantau aktivitas tektonik di kawasan utara Jawa dan Madura karena termasuk bagian dari sistem patahan aktif Indonesia.
Tidak semua sesar aktif memicu gempa besar. Sebagian bergerak sangat lambat dan hanya dapat diketahui melalui penelitian geologi serta pemetaan bawah permukaan.
Selain untuk mitigasi bencana, penelitian struktur geologi Madura juga penting untuk pengelolaan sumber daya alam, termasuk eksplorasi migas dan pemetaan cadangan air bawah tanah.
Di balik citranya sebagai pulau garam dan sate, Madura ternyata menyimpan cerita panjang tentang laut purba, pergerakan bumi, hingga potensi energi yang berperan penting bagi Indonesia.
