JATIMTIMES – Anggota Komisi E DPRD Provinsi Jawa Timur (Jatim) dr Benjamin Kristianto mendorong pemerintah provinsi (pemprov) untuk melakukan pemerataan infrastruktur pendidikan guna menghapus area kosong sekolah negeri (blank spot).

Ia mengusulkan program strategis ‘Satu Kecamatan Satu SMA/SMK Negeri’ sebagai solusi jangka panjang agar akses pendidikan berkualitas dapat menjangkau seluruh lapisan masyarakat. Menurut dr Benjamin, kemudahan akses ke sekolah negeri bukan sekadar urusan administratif, melainkan instrumen vital untuk memutus rantai kemiskinan di Jatim.

"Kami mengharapkan dengan diterimanya mereka di sekolah-sekolah negeri itu bisa memutuskan mata rantai kemiskinan ataupun kekurangan daripada keluarga mereka. Dengan mereka dapat terus masuk SMA, nanti dapat beasiswa kuliah dan segala macam untuk mereka-mereka yang tidak mampu," ujar Benjamin, Jumat (24/4/2026).

Dalam mendorong program ini, legislator dari Fraksi Gerindra tersebut menggunakan analogi keberhasilan pemerataan layanan kesehatan yang pernah ia perjuangkan di masa lalu. Ia menilai, jika sektor kesehatan mampu menjangkau tiap kecamatan, maka sektor pendidikan pun seharusnya bisa melakukan hal yang sama.

"Dulu sekali tahun 94-an, kita itu masih memperjuangkan Puskesmas itu ada di tiap kecamatan. Dan hasilnya ada, berhasil! Sekarang ini setiap kecamatan memiliki puskesmas. Nah, mestinya pendidikan pun seperti itu. Jadi, tiap kecamatan minimal ada satu SMA/SMK negeri, minimal," tegasnya.

Ia menambahkan bahwa kendala lahan tidak seharusnya menjadi penghalang karena banyak desa yang memiliki aset tanah kosong yang bisa dimanfaatkan untuk pembangunan ruang kelas baru.

Selain masalah infrastruktur, Benjamin juga memberikan catatan kritis terhadap pelaksanaan sistem zonasi dalam penerimaan peserta didik baru (PPDB). Ia menyoroti adanya celah kecurangan berupa manipulasi data kependudukan demi masuk ke sekolah favorit tertentu.

"Zonasi itu yang benar-benar harus diperhatikan. Karena zonasi itu kadang-kadang bisa disalahgunakan. Kita sering mendapat informasi misalnya dia rumahnya Madiun atau pun jauh lah begitu ya contohnya, tapi pindah bayar, pindahin KK (kartu keluarga) dengan harapan bisa masuk ke sekolah-sekolah favorit," bebernya.

Lebih lanjut, Benjamin juga mengingatkan agar sistem digitalisasi pendaftaran sekolah diperkuat untuk menghindari antrean fisik yang panjang. Namun, ia menekankan agar pengembangan sistem IT tersebut dilakukan secara bertanggung jawab dan memiliki jaminan kualitas yang jelas.

"Mestinya sekarang zaman digital semuanya baik. Buatlah suatu program digital yang nyaman dan mudah. Jangan menjadikan digitalisasi itu suatu proyek. Kalau lemot, bukan usulkan program lain, tetapi tegur! Minta garansi dari program yang sudah dibayar itu," pungkasnya.
