JATIMTIMES - Wali Kota Malang, Wahyu Hidayat turun langsung dalam panen raya cabai di Kelurahan Buring, Kecamatan Kedungkandang, Kamis (16/4/2026). Dalam kesempatan itu, ia juga menyerahkan bantuan sarana produksi (saprodi) pertanian kepada kelompok tani setempat.

Kegiatan tersebut turut dihadiri jajaran Forkopimda serta Tim Pengendali Inflasi Daerah (TPID) Kota Malang. Agenda ini menjadi bagian dari upaya menjaga produktivitas pertanian sekaligus mengendalikan inflasi daerah.

Wahyu mengatakan, tanaman cabai yang dipanen memiliki masa tanam sekitar empat bulan. Dalam satu tahun, tanaman tersebut bahkan dapat dipanen hingga 15 kali.

“Pagi ini kami panen cabai bersama. Tanaman ini baru berusia sekitar empat bulan, tapi dalam setahun bisa panen hingga 15 kali,” ujarnya, Kamis (16/4/2026). 

Ia menjelaskan, lahan seluas kurang lebih 7.000 meter persegi mampu menghasilkan hingga 6 ton cabai. Produksi tersebut diharapkan dapat membantu memenuhi kebutuhan pasar di Kota Malang.

Selain itu, keberadaan hasil panen ini juga diharapkan mampu menekan gejolak harga cabai yang kerap menjadi penyumbang inflasi. Pasalnya, harga cabai dinilai masih belum stabil di pasaran.

Wahyu menyebut, di tingkat petani harga cabai berkisar antara Rp 40 ribu hingga Rp 50 ribu per kilogram. Namun, harga di tingkat konsumen bisa menembus lebih dari Rp 100 ribu per kilogram.

“Kami melihat ada selisih harga yang cukup tinggi. Ini yang akan kami telusuri agar harga bisa lebih terkendali dan terjangkau masyarakat,” tegasnya.

Selain panen raya, Pemerintah Kota Malang juga menyalurkan bantuan saprodi kepada 12 kelompok tani. Bantuan tersebut meliputi traktor, hand sprayer untuk pemupukan, hingga mesin penggiling.

Bantuan ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan efisiensi kerja petani sekaligus mendongkrak produktivitas pertanian. Dengan demikian, ketahanan pangan di Kota Malang juga semakin kuat.

Wahyu menambahkan, meskipun berstatus sebagai kota, Malang masih memiliki potensi pertanian yang cukup besar. Berbagai komoditas strategis masih bisa dikembangkan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat.

“Tidak hanya cabai, kita juga masih punya padi dan jagung yang turut menopang kebutuhan bahan pokok,” pungkasnya.
